Patient Care

KU Medical Center is committed to improving the health of citizens worldwide — from right here in Kansas to South America to Africa.

Dozens of students, faculty and staff volunteer for service trips each year, while others work to improve health outcomes for immigrants and refugees who now call Kansas "home."

Initiatives include:

  • Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery annual mission trips to Antigua, Guatemala
  • KU Medical Center has a long history of working with the Medical Missions Foundation. Each year, doctors, nurses, audiologists, medical students and other health professionals from KU Medical Center and area hospitals travel to villages around the world to provide care.
  • Partnerships with the Mexican consulate on initiatives in Kansas City and southwest Kansas
  • Department of Plastic Surgery trips to San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala, for reconstructive surgeries
